  • Military exercises, a clear warning against 'Taiwan independence' The recent military exercises performed by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) serve as a clear warning to "Taiwan independence" separatists, a Chinese mainland spokesperson said. Two Su-35 fighter jets and a H-6K bomber fly in formation on May 11, 2018. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) air force conducted patrol training over China's island of Taiwan. (Xinhua, May 17, 2018)
  • Xi demands high-level research institutions for strong military. He made these remarks during an inspection of the People's Liberation Army Academy of Military Science on May 16, 2018.   • China, Japan and South Korea injected fresh confidence into global growth by reaffirming their commitment to economic globalization as well as trade and investment liberalization. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Moon Jae-in made the pledge at a trilateral meeting in Tokyo on May 9, 2018, giving a big boost for free trade against a rising undercurrent of protectionism in the world.
