  • Government yet to fulfil promises to Tamils, Sampanthan tells US delegate. The Good Governance Government had not fulfilled the promises it had given to the Tamil community when it was elected to office in 2015, Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan told US Congressman James Sensenbrenner at the Opposition Leader’s office in Parliament on February 22.

  • President invited to attend Solar Summit in New Delhi in March. High Commissioner of India Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Ambassador of France, Jean-Marin Schuh jointly invited President Maithripala Sirisena to attend the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Founding Conference and Solar Summit is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 11 March 2018.
  • The ISA aims to mobilize more than US $ 1 trillion of investments needed by 2030 for massive deployment of solar energy. ISA is committed to contribute significantly towards the global efforts for achieving Sustainable Development Goals and objectives of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
