  • China-EU joint efforts crucial to counter unilateralism, protectionism: ambassador
    "Nobody likes uncertainties. Given that, it is even more important for China and the European Union (EU) to join forces to counter unilateralism and protectionism with the stability of their cooperation," Ambassador Zhang Ming, head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, said in a recent speech.
    To that end, China and the EU should work together to foster a more stable and predictable business environment, he said Tuesday in a speech during a luncheon hosted by the EU-China Business Association. (Global Times, June 14, 2019)
  • China continues to welcome European investment: ambassador
    "China will continue to welcome European investment with open arms and is all ears to the advice and recommendations of European businesses," Ambassador Zhang Ming, head of the Chinese Mission to the EU, said in a recent speech.

    China's foreign trade registered steady growth in the first five months this year despite growing external uncertainties. The country's foreign trade of goods rose 4.1 percent year on year in the first five months of this year to 12.1 trillion yuan (about 1.76 trillion U.S. dollars), data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) showed.   • Chinese companies fear of less welcoming business environment in U.S. due to trade frictions: survey
    Chinese companies doing business in the United States have the apparent fear that the country's business environment becomes "less welcoming" as a result of trade frictions between the two sides, a survey released Monday by a China-U.S. business group said. The China General Chamber of Commerce - USA (CGCC) said in its 2019 Annual Business Survey Report that increasingly protectionist policies in the United States have resulted in a trade war with, and declining investments from, China.
